Licensed Veterinary Technician

OPENING SEPTEMBER 2024

Do you want to be the first to join a BRAND NEW, PRIVATELY-OWNED, small animal-exclusive, family-oriented, and supportive veterinary hospital with a culture unlike any other?

Do you want to be off 3-4 days per week and still have full-time benefits?

Foundations Animal Hospital is seeking full-time (preferably) veterinary technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animals and a desire to provide the highest level of care to our patients.

We are open Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM-5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM-9:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM-9:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM-9:00 PM. On weekdays the hospital provides general practice medical and surgical services; on the weekends we provide urgent care services.

Salary: General Practice – $20/hour; Urgent Care – $22/hour; Bonuses for working holiday shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining thorough histories, examining animals, and checking vitals (Temperature, Pulse,
  • Respiration, etc.) in preparation for the veterinarian
  • Taking radiographs of patients
  • Administering medications, immunizations, and treatments, including nail trims
  • Collecting blood, urine, and fecal samples for testing and perform tests with the samples
  • Monitoring animals under anesthesia
  • Performing general dental cleaning and polishing
  • Provide general nursing care
  • Assist veterinarians while they perform examinations or surgeries
  • Induce, intubate, and prepare patients for surgery
  • Monitor animals while recovering from surgery
  • Advise and provide educational materials to clients on animal health care, nutrition, or behavioral problems
  • Provide emergency first aid to sick or injured patients
  • Assist CSRs and veterinary assistants with their duties if needed
  • Ensure samples are appropriately handled, packaged, and shipped to outside laboratories
  • Place intravenous catheters
  • Safely and correctly work medical equipment including but not limited to fluid pumps, therapy laser, microscopes, anesthesia monitors, etc.
  • Enter patient charges and medical notes into the practice software system

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher in Veterinary
  • Technology from an accredited school
  • Current licensure as a veterinary technician in the state of Tennessee
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
  • 2+ years of work experience as a veterinary technician preferred
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds

Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect all working spaces as needed
  • Walk dogs on a leash approximately 3 times daily
  • Ensure patients in the hospital have appropriate food and water based on their individual needs
  • Observe the patients in the hospital and alert appropriate staff of any concerns in patient condition
  • Give medicated baths and trim nails
  • Clean, correctly pack/wrap, and autoclave surgery instruments
  • General cleaning duties: laundry, dishes, floors

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of work experience as a veterinary assistant preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds

Client Service Representative

We are open Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM-5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM-9:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM-9:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM-9:00 PM. On weekdays the hospital provides general practice medical and surgical services; on the weekends we provide urgent care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Speak with clients in-person, over the phone, and occasionally via email and text
  • Be able to speak and write professionally and clearly
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Provide estimates and invoices for payment
  • Scan/enter patient records from previous practices into the electronic medical record
  • Call other veterinary practices to request medical records on shared patients
  • Respond with compassion and empathy in stressful and emotional situations
  • Maintain a clean, stocked and orderly lobby and front office area
  • Educate clients on products sold in waiting room
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, end of day reports and deposits
  • Data Entry: records, client questionnaires, referral information, etc.
  • Ensure that referral letters and lab results go to the corresponding veterinarians
  • Ensure all client and patient information is correct in the medical record
  • Triage patients in the waiting room and over the phone to identify emergent situations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience in the veterinary or human medical field with a general understanding of medical terminology preferred
  • Computer experience (email usage, word/excel) and proficiency required in front desk equipment (such a credit card machine, copy machine, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask
